Juliana Dominguez
Bio
Juliana is an indie Latina female singer, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist from New Jersey.
She has been singing and playing piano since she was a toddler. All of her favorite childhood shows and movies were musical. She loved Hannah Montanna, Victorious, and Glee, to name a few. She would sing songs from those shows around the house all of the time She started taking vocal lessons at age 11 after singing Frozen's, "Let It Go," around the house a lot. Her mom realized there may be something special there, so she enrolled Juliana in lessons.
By age 13 she auditioned for entrance and was accepted to the pre-college division for gifted teens at Manhattan School of Music with a concentration in Voice. There, she learned music theory, vocal technique, and performance techniques.
In her freshman year of high school, Juliana began playing around with GarageBand. She would find the backing tracks to her favorite songs and attempt to recreate the vocal production and harmonies. She also created a cappella covers using the Acapella app.
In the summer of 2020, Juliana auditioned and applied for Berklee College of Music over Zoom. It was an opportunity to apply early given to those in the Berklee summer program.
“I thought to myself, if I get in, I get in and I’m done. I won’t need to apply anywhere else. If I don’t get in, I’ll find out early and still be able to apply to other schools, so I took the opportunity.”
In her senior year of high school, Juliana began taking guitar lessons after having been playing simple guitar chords for years. She finally downloaded Logic Pro X, GarageBand’s older sister, after years of working on GarageBand. This opened up a new world for Juliana. She also got accepted to her dream school, Berklee College of Music, with a scholarship.
“I want to pursue music in college. I want to make albums, write and produce my own music, and reach people’s hearts through my music the way my favorite artists have reached mine.”
Juliana is now entering her sophomore year of college at Berklee. She has been cultivating several skills throughout the years and perfecting her craft. She has always known what she wanted to do.
“I am so proud to say that I finally am doing what I have always wanted to do. I am exactly who I have always wanted to be.”
Recently, Juliana released her first single “hey pretty boy.” The track features lush harmonies, an infectious guitar riff, and sweet bell melodies. With influences such as Mac DeMarco, Ariana Grande, and Clairo, as well as novel and fresh production, Juliana distinguishes herself as potentially the next major pop woman in music.
